Founder – Baziks – Democratic Republic of the Congo
Winner of the Online Music Prize of the first edition of Digital Lab Africa, Baya Ciamala is the founder of Baziks, one of the pioneers of music streaming in French-speaking Africa. Also winner of the Prix 1000 entrepreneurs from the Africa-France summit 2020, he graduated from the Congolese Audiovisual Institute before taking a coaching course in cultural management at the AMI Centre between Marseille and Kinshasa. As an assiduous organizer of events in his country, he has 20 years of experience in the media and music. His startup, which focuses exclusively on local talent, hosts the content of various Congolese superstars such as Fally Ipupa or legends like Papa Wemba, Franco or Zaiko Langa Langa . Baziks is also home to undiscovered artists who want to make their music available to the general public who connect to the Internet via their cell phones. To date, it has an audience of 200,000 users in the DRC, while strengthening its approach to creating opportunities for artists to grow and amplify their careers.
