CEO of Acacias for All & Member of the Presidential Council for Africa – Tunisia
Sarah Toumi was born in 1987 in Paris and founded Acacias for all in 2012, after measuring the impact of desertification and water stress on the village of her grandparents at Bir Salah in Tunisia. An impact that is particularly high on women who rely on agriculture for their livelihoods and have to quit their activity because of global warming. This project enables farmers to get training in agroecology and to use Acacias raddiana and moringa to protect their lands and grow their incomes. Indeed, selling acacia gum and oil from those drought-resistant trees allow them to create afterwards forest gardening specialized in plant proteins and natural scents markets. She is also the author of the initiative “1MillionTrees4Tunisia to involve urban and rural citizens into reafforestation actions in Tunisia”. In 2019, she moved to Paris at Station F to develop the platform “Plug&Green” to allow Acacias For All to scale through digital. She was notably one of the 5 winners of the Rolex Prize in 2016, was awarded by the Forbes Under 30 with a focus on social entrepreneurs, and was appointed by Emmanuel Macron to the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa. Since August, she has been an expert in support of the Special Correspondent of the President of the French Republic for Biodiversity.
